How Gabor Guarantee A High-Quality Leather in Their Shoes & Boots

As the Gabor brand is built upon a promise to their customers that their footwear is of the highest quality, each person involved within the manufacturing process has a dedicated role, and no more so than the Gabor leather acceptors. Their job role involves looking for the most exceptional of leather to ensure that the quality of each individual hide is guaranteed. How do Gabor know that their leather acceptor has approved a particular leather hide? It is punched with a special tool by the leather acceptor as approval before being shipped to Gabor.

Leather is a passion of Gabor and as leather is one of the most expensive commodities within the world market, the dedication of the leather acceptor is integral in manufacturing and production processes. Not only does the leather need to be technically perfect but visually perfect, as Gabor customers are expecting the best from the brand. This assurance is provided across the 65 various leathers (as some are in various colours) that Gabor currently employ in the production of their shoes.

To receive the approving punch from the leather acceptor, the leather must meet various criteria:

  • Colour

  • Visual appearance

  • Hide size

  • Strength

  • Softness

  • Grip

However, not only do these qualities need to be met, but the leather acceptor will need to see beyond the leather, to establish whether or not the leather will be suitable and fashionable enough for the Gabor shoe range. One particular leather may be absolutely perfect for one type of shoe but not for another, and this therefore needs thoroughly ensuring before purchase. For example, some leather will be styled, 70% of leather in fact, and this styled leather must continue the Gabor standard.
