Having received several weeks of dedicated construction by exceptional craftsmen, your Barker shoe will have received such a treatment to ensure your Barker shoe can last a lifetime. However, in order to carry out this guarantee, there are a few simple steps that need taking to ensure the life of your Barker shoe is prolonged.
When it comes to looking after your Barker shoes, please remember the following:
Do brush suede shoes with a specialised brush to ensure the nap is completely restored. |
Don't just leave your shoes to build up dirt over weeks and weeks. Rather, regularly remove any surplus dirt with a damp cloth or soft brush. Always ensure you get into those hard to reach places too, e.g. the eyelets for the laces (if applicable) and the seams. |
Do use a shoe tree when you aren't wearing your shoes as this will help retain the shape of your Barker shoes. |
Do wash Nubuck leather shoes with a cloth that is dampened with slightly soapy warm water. |
Don't try to dry your shoes quickly by placing them near artificial heat, e.g. a radiator as this can ruin the leather of your shoes beyond repair. Leather requires a slow drying process, so leave them to dry overnight with something like newspaper stuffed inside them to retain their shape and absorb any excess moisture. |
Do clean your leather shoes with a high quality cream or polish, and buff with a soft cloth to retain the shine. Please note: you should always consult the manufacturers guidelines before using any product. |
