The Romika brand have had a roller-coaster of a ride from their founding in 1922, but it was after initial financial difficulty to the first owners that 1936 saw the Romika brand taken over by Hellmuth Lemm who enabled the brand to expand to what it is today. Furthermore, since 2005, Romika have been taken under the umbrella branch of Josef Seibel, where the dedication of both brands to provide customers with the highest quality of footwear is evident.
Their success grew into the 1940's where 1,000 employees were needed to meet manufacturing demands, developing the brands designs and styles to continue their excellence. However, during World War II their factory became victim to bombing, devastating the manufacturing of Romika footwear. Thus, after World War II the factory was reconstructed to employ just 50 employees and diversify their products to essential items such as hot water bottles, bicycle tubes and footwear soles. Building the brand back up, production of their Romika shoes soon began again and allowed them to become a pioneering company as the first footwear company to use heated presses in their shoe production.
Through their sheer determination, Romika continued to expand, and just a few years later in the 1950's their success continued as the demand for fashionable shoes began to increase. This success continued into the 1960's and Romika were one of the companies to enjoy the prosperity of the German Economic Boom.
It was during the 1970's that Romika started to produce sports footwear, expanding their factory production into France and Spain. Continuing to expand not just their production, but their designs, the 1980's saw Romika producing shoes for fashion, leisure and fitness. It was during this time that the membrane technology used in footwear was designed by Romika.
Thus, it is clear that the Romika brand have been continually dedicated to creating a footwear brand of difference, incorporating of technologies and retaining of comfort. Continuing under the Josef Seibel brand name, Romika's dedication to their footwear brand is clear, and the production of the highest quality shoes and boots continues.
