Geox and Red Bull Racing have proudly announced that they have signed a technical partnership agreement, with Geox providing them with a supply of shoes for the next Formula One Championship. Drivers and mechanics alike will be sporting these 'shoes that breathe' creating the perfect partnership.
Geox have offered the racing world their expertise, recognising the need for a shoe that provides exceptional perspiration performance during a race. In Formula One, a lot of heat is created, not just for the car but for the person driving too, and these high temperatures along with other factors, such as stress and tension can cause a lot of perspiration. It is also known that during a typical grand prix, a driver can lose several kilograms of sweat, which can remain trapped within shoes and suits (nice!).
Geox invested much time and energy into their technology and research developments to create the perfect patented technology within their racing shoe to ensure their excellent perspiration performance. 50 patents later, Geox have created the ultimate racing shoe, inspired by their casual shoes with rubber soles and sport shoes.
Speaking about the collaboration, Team Principle for Red Bull Racing, Christian Homer, comments:
'In Formula One we are always striving to find the latest technologies that are available, so we are delighted to be working with an innovative company such as Geox. We particularly admire the way Geox blends technological research with style and look forward to a successful partnership with them in 2011.'
From March 2011, the Geox-Red Bull Racing collection will be introduced, with many of their latest fashion collections including styles that mirror this collaboration.
Mario Moretti Polegato, Geox's President, offered his opinion on their joining with Formula One:
'Every year in Formula One, teams test new technologies in very extreme conditions which later on will be transferred to our daily lives. Circuits have witnessed the birth of innovations, which have subsequently been applied to standard cars that circulate in our towns. Geox will work side by side with drivers and Red Bull Racing in order to test and develop new well-being and performance-oriented technologies. The outcome of this research conducted on track, will then be applied to everyday footwear.'
