Despite recent statistics that have shown women own far more pairs of shoes than men, it is the men who are putting far more care and attention into the shoes they do own. It also appears that men are more loyal to the shoe brands they wear too.
The survey was carried out for Cherry Blossom by One Poll and found that over 70% of men own up to eight pairs of shoes, whereas the same figure of women own anywhere from 9 - 21 pairs.
However, as the saying goes it is 'quality not quantity' and it appears this is where women are falling foul with their shoes, as nearly 40% of men cleaned their shoes at least once a week, whereas only 24% of women did the same. A further 30% also admitted that they hadn't even polished or cleaned their shoes for six or more months.
Men also appear more loyal to the brands that they are buying from, but both men and women are looking for convenience when buying a new pair of shoes.
So, despite the recent figures that pointed towards women being die-hard shoe fans with their mass buying, it appears that men are the far more attentive of shoe fans. Perhaps it is the use of these shoes for work that requires them to clean them on a regular basis, or it may be the fact that they aren't buying as many pairs and thus need to look after the pairs they do have.
