When Should I Be Buying My Babies First Pair Of Shoes?

Babies feet don't really need wrapping away underneath socks and shoes to make them look cuter, as their bare feet alone will get plenty of 'ooo's and 'ahhh's, so try and keep their feet bare as much as possible. It is highly recommended that babies feet are left exposed and free to move for as long as possible during their development, as this allows for unrestricted growth leading to far healthier feet!

During the first stages of their life, a baby's foot doesn't actually contain bone, instead they are made up of fatty tissue and cartilage which means they are far easier to become misshapen if restricted. Therefore, try, where possible, to keep your baby's feet moving as freely as possible, avoiding socks that are too small, sleepsuits that are too small and cause your baby's feet to curl up and shoes when at home.

Evidently, when you venture outside you're going to need to keep your baby's feet warm somehow; socks that allow room for wiggling toes are ideal, as well as a pram cover that is rather like a sleeping bag and keeps your baby's feet warm and wrapped up.

When it does come to choosing shoes for your baby, always opt for ones that are lightweight and are constructed using soft leather as this will allow you to keep your baby's socks in place without restricting you child's feet.

As they start to move around more you may feel the need for them to wear shoes more frequently in order to protect them; again, soft, lightweight footwear is a must! However, try to leave your child's feet bare as much as possible still.
