Suri Cruise Has A Shoe Collection Fit For A Princess – But Is It Too Much?

It has been reported that Suri Cruise, daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise has a shoe collection worth over £100,000, having had shoes custom designed specifically for her and some high heels. Is it the thing of dreams or irresponsible parenting?

At just five years old Suri is thought to own 130 pairs of shoes and has a keen eye for designer shoes, with one of her favourite designers being Marc Jacobs. What is perhaps slightly more worrying is Suri's insistence on wearing shoes with a heel, and Katie's encouragement of this with the commissioning of certain shoes to be redesigned to include a heel.

A source speaking to Star magazine commented:

If they don't come with a heel, Katie had them redesigned for Suri...She commissioned a pair of Louboutins for her a while back.”

In fact, the five-year-old appears to be becoming quite the diva, with the source also adding:

Even when she's going to play dates or walking on the beach, she cries if Katie reaches for anything but a little pair of sandals with some sort of heel...She literally cries 'No, Mama, no!' And then points to whatever pair she feels like wearing – no matter how inappropriate.”

So is Katie to blame for Suri's potentially unhealthy obsession with heels, should she be backing down so easily and encouraging the purchasing of specifically designed heels for her daughter? Well, the source also claimed Tom Cruise is the one who insists his daughter should have the best, saying:

Tom loves seeing his little girl dressed up so girlie and cute. He encourages her to wear frilly dresses and tiny heels. He says Suri is growing up to be as fashionable as her mum.”

One can't help but think that at the age of five a young girl should not be encouraged to wear heels? We see news article after news article that warns of the health problems that can arise from the frequent wear of high heels for adult women, so what of that of a child?

A child continues to grow and develop right through until their late teenage years, and her continued wear of heels could lead to a whole host of health problems including shortened calf muscles, toe deformities and so on. Granted, the wearing of heels for special occasions is something every little girl can indulge in, but when it comes to Suri it appears heels are chosen over comfort on a daily basis.

Equally, the extravagant spending and amount of shoes seems a little ludicrous as a child continually grows, which means she wont be getting much wear out of each pair! What's more, a heel doesn't necessarily mean a 'cuter' pair of shoes, brands such as Lelli Kelly create shoes perfect for little princesses, with or without heels!
