As Emu boots are produced from the highest quality sheepskin, there is no reason why your boots shouldn't live a long and happy life, all the while retaining their natural glow and appearance. However, just as with every piece of footwear, over time, dirt can build and your boots could start to look grubby. Nevertheless, with a few simple do's and don'ts, there is no reason why your boots can't be returned to their initial appearance.

Don't use any chemicals or other harsh cleaning products. If you are wanting to use any cleaning products, always use ones that have been recommended by Emu themselves.

Never place your boots in the washing machine or tumble dryer.

Do use a soft brush to get rid of any loose dirt accumulated on your boots (it's a good idea to do this after use to prevent the dirt from sticking).

Do use a spot eraser for any stains or spots that may appear on your boots; this will bring out the stain/dirt which can then be brush away with a soft brush.

Do seek advice from a specialist sheepskin cleaner or the shop you have purchased them from if a stain appears and you cannot remove it; you may find this with fizzy drinks, oils and so on.

Never soak your Emu boots completely. If your boots are quite dirty, simply use a cold damp cloth to wet the boot. Once damp, scrub the boots with a soft brush before rinsing again. (Your boots will naturally change shade at this point; don't panic, they will return to their normal colour.)

Always leave them to dry naturally in a warm place.

Don't place them on top of a radiator or heater and don't use a hair-dryer to dry.

Do place newspaper inside the boot whilst it is going through the drying process; this will help the boot maintain its shape.

Do re-brush the boots once they are dry to remove any dirt that has been brought to the surface.
