Another year and even more New Years Resolutions have been made, but just which ones are we going to stick with this year? The diet books, fitness DVD's and fruit bowls may have come back out as many vow to spend more time on themselves; but this could be a lot simpler than those taxing diets and fitness regimes – start your style with your shoes.
Confidence in the style you're wearing is something that can often start with what footwear you're wearing as many women feel more confident if they are positive about the footwear they are wearing. You could have a stylish outfit on, but team this with a tatty old pair of shoes and your style confidence is back down to zero.
So, this New Year, make sure you stick to your resolutions, by making simple, do-able changes! You may feel your wardrobes become a bit unoriginal and stale but in most cases you can reinvent these items of clothing by adding a bit of style in your footwear. What's more, as a staple accessory for your wardrobe, this can be adopted for many outfits, with one simple change in footwear.
Vary your footwear style with one of the following:
Fantastically Flat
Flat shoes aren't boring; in fact they can be fabulous, and many women are opting for flat shoes on a more frequent basis, to bring a touch of style to their outfit as well as comfort. Entering 2012, many fashion designers have added flat shoe styles to their collections, reinventing this fashion in the form of brogues, ballerina pumps and loafers.
We're not suggesting you ditch the heels completely, but mix it up a bit and you're certain to add more style to your outfits. Next time you reach for those boring old boots/shoes you've been wearing, pick out those pretty ballerinas or brogues, and you'll be surprised just how much more stylish you feel.
Brogues and loafers can also be dressed up by simply teaming them with a smart pair of trousers or a pencil skirt. You'll look every bit the professional in this style and what's more you can run from meeting to meeting without tottering in your heels!
High & Mighty
You may wear heels every second of the day or you may just choose them for special occasions or not at all, but if one item of footwear is going to add a touch of extra style to your outfit, it's a pair of heels.
Heels are an item of footwear that many women feel makes them feel more sexy and confident, and they're a proven remedy for making your calves look slender. So, perhaps now is the time to give heels the chance, even if it's just for special occasions and dressy dos.
If high heels just aren't you, you could try a mid-high heel, losing the height a little but none of the style or benefits. Equally, to move away from your standard courts and stilettos, you could add a quirky touch with a high heel that has detail to it's toe, or even a vibrant colour.
Brilliantly Bold
As we have entered 2012, we have also entered the year of bold colours and styles for Spring/Summer, with vibrancy being a must. The bigger and bolder you can go, the better, so step out of the crowd in vivacious style this year.
Bold footwear is just perfect for revamping an old outfit. You might have that old little black dress in the back of your wardrobe and wonder if it may be getting a bit dated, but team it with a bold pair of shoes and you're instantly wearing a new outfit!
Wonderfully Western
A way to really bring a distinguished twist to your outfit would be to opt for western style boots or shoes; ideal for both casual and dress wear. With their unique stitch details, small cowgirl heels and Western style these boots and shoes will really give your outfit a unique look.
The beauty of these boots and shoes is the fact that they're that little bit more special than your average boots and shoes, whether you opt for the more subtle styled slouch effect boots or the more rock chic boots with stud and stitch detail!
These different styles of shoes and boots are just some examples of what you could wear this year in your journey to creating a new style. However, the most important thing to remember is to wear what you feel confident in, and if you want to step out of the crowd, don't be afraid to do so.
