The Red Wing Shoe Company emphasise that in order to produce a pair of Red Wing boots, 230 dedicated handcrafted methods are used to ensure that the highest quality is achieved, and once produced only 3 steps are needed to continue this high standard. Customers are encouraged to check the type of leather their Red Wing boots are made from before carrying out cleaning and protection. The below steps are recommended for oil-based leathers.
Cleaning |
To clean your Red Wing boots, warm water or Red Wing Shoes Leather Cleaner and a stiff bristle brush should be used. Once washed, the leather should be left to dry naturally, in a cool, dry place away from artificial heat sources. Any additional heat could remove the oils within the leather and damage leather fibres. |
Conditioning |
To preserve the life of your Red Wing boots, a Red Wing Shoes Boot Oil or Mink Oil should be applied to your boots. The conditioning helps to preserve the natural properties within boots, enabling your boots to live a longer life. |
Protecting |
To add additional protection to your boots and improve on the high-quality evermore, a Red Wing Leather Protector can be applied which provides an additional barrier from oil, water, mud and dirt. |
